Christmas 2009

Get the Flash Player to see this video.

This photo was taken at the girls' school during a "Pancake Breakfast with Santa" on the 12th. The accompanying music is from a performance of the Barbershop group that Dossy joined this year, the Ridgewood Cavaliers of Harmony. They had a performance at the Ridgefield Public Library on December 4th. Charlie was 'videographer' with my cell phone (that's why the quality isn't that great) and I neglected to tell her that she needed to be careful when recording. So, inadvertently, she's accompanying the RCH while they sang their last song of the show.

Our whole family wants to wish you & yours a VERY Merry Christmas and may God's Blessing be with you all for 2010!

Time to UPDATE!!!

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

Well, the site’s been up (pretty much solidly) for the last 5 1/2 years straight — ever since Charlie was born. Dossy and I have decided that it’s time for a MAJOR overhaul/re-vamping of the site.

I’m going to be going back and re-sorting/re-naming a BUNCH of photos and videos from the early years (they’re in a total state of disarray and some photos have never even been put up). And Ed’s going to handle the ‘technical’ stuff — he’s going to re-work some of the scripts we’ve got running and make it a lot easier for me to update the site. He’ll also sort out some of the discrepancies regarding file/image size and what-not (it’s all rather complicated, that’s why he’s going to do it ;-)

Anyhoo, all this means that photos will not be available for a while until we get this all sorted out. Please email us if you think we’re taking too long ;-) That way we’ll also have an idea of exactly how many of you are USING the site.

We put a lot of time and effort into keeping this going, and it’s good to know that it’s appreciated. We definately welcome any comments and feedback. If you’ve been around since the beginning of the site, let us know if something’s gone that you’d like to see back, or if you think we can change an existing feature for the better. Now’s the time to let us know what you think, while we’re working on it! Don’t keep your thoughts to yourself — speak up! After all, you might have something useful to contribute ;-P

End of April 2005

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Well, after several months of ‘behind-ness’ on the website we’re back up to date! There’s been a lot happening — we had the girls’ birthdays in February (Suzie’s was on the 1st and Charlie’s on the 26th) and then we had a ‘joint’ Birthday party for them on the 13th (which we still haven’t sent out the ‘Thank-yous’ for — sorry to those who attended, but they’re still in the works).

All three of those dates are good to check out — we did a lot of fun stuff. Also, other dates worth noting (in no particular order) are April Fool’s Day (April 1st) we had some fun that day! We just got together with our cousin, Ilana, at her new house last Thursday (the 28th of April). We did a ‘family hike’ on April 9th, which was quite fun. And there are pictures of our friendly garden chipmunk on the 7th of April.

Our friend Jake’s birthday part was on March 20th and the girls went bowling for the first time — you should see the pictures of Suzie holding a bowling ball almost as big as she is!!! It’s really quite funny! Our other friends, the Puzios had their joint party on March 6th and had an Amphibian/Reptile guy come and show the kids a bunch of lizards, frogs, snakes — it was really very interesting and educational.

Another fun day to look at is February 21st — we had a huge snow-storm and did some fun stuff both out- and in-doors. And on February 11th the girls received a super gift from their Aunty Janine and Uncle Josh and cousin Jenna in the UK. They got a new puppet show theater, which, if you know our girls, is a BIG hit.

Other than those dates, Charlie has her riding lesson each week on a Tuesday — you can check her progress as I still take pictures and short movies each week. And we’ve had several other friend’s birthday parties that we’ve attended — there are plenty photos there too. The rest is just sort of day-to-day stuff.

We are experiencing a few minor technical issues on the site — but if you have any problems, please email Ed/Dossy or me to let us know what problems you’re experiencing. We can’t fix it if we don’t know about it!
Hope everyone’s well — take care until we update again.

Way Overdue…

Monday, November 29th, 2004

Well, it’s been way too long since I entered anything in the Blog, so here goes and update:

Ed’s currently away in VA on business, so I’m a single mom for the next few days. Charlie’s doing increadibly well both at pre-school and with her riding lessons. And Suzie’s vocabulary is just taking off like rocket! She’s obsessed with doing what everyone around her is doing — “big kids” and all. She just won’t be left behind. Both of the girls are keeping Ed and I on our toes. It’s really tough to keep up with the two of them sometimes. But it’s well worth all the hectic times, lemme tell you! They are both very caring and considerate young girls (when they want to be ;-)

We just had a very quiet TurkeyDay — and we saved the turkeys by going out to a Chinese Buffet for lunch. It was just the four of us, so we didn’t see any point in cooking a big meal at home. But we did get a boat-load of stuff accomplished around the house. We managed to start pulling out the Christmas stuff and putting up some of the decorations. We got a bunch of yard work done — clearing up the leaves and mulching them. Moving the woodpiles that have been plaguing our yard since we had that huge tree cut down. And Ed even started to split some of the wood! I cleared out the crawl-space under our kitchen stairs and we’ve decided to make that the ‘wood cellar’. It’s the perfect place to store the chopped wood and have it accessible to take inside for our wood-burning stove.

So, I hope that’ll do all of you for an update. I’ll try to post more after the December/January holidays. And Happy Holidays to all of you!!! And a very Happy New Year for 2005 if I don’t write before then!!!

Please excuse a motherly gloat…

Thursday, April 8th, 2004

Ok, so yesterday I was playing with Charlie at the fridge with the magnetic letters and we were making short (3-letter) words; she and I were sounding them out and she was ‘reading’. Well, last night, when I was putting her to bed I pulled out some really beginner-type books and she read me one!!! Can we say “HOLY S-H-1-T!!!”, talk about a new type of ‘high’. I’m abslolutely over the moon about this!!! (In case you can’t tell). The book was nice and short and consisted of things like, “Mat/Mat sat/Sam/Sam sat/Mat sat. Sam sat/Mat sat on Sam” that type of thing. But she was really reading!!! I’m just so chuffed about this, I wanted to share it with all of you. A date to mark in the baby-book — April 7th, 2004 — the day Charlene Shiobara read her first book, at the ripe old age of 4 years, 1 month, 1 week and 3 days old!!!
